To ensure the movement of traffic in one direction, our team recommends the use of traffic control plates. Small in design, these traffic barriers work effectively in deterring drivers from accessing passages from the wrong direction. The use of this device allows for the unattended control of the flow of traffic.
It can help reduce the risk of collisions and direct traffic easily by severely designating entry and exit points. The traffic barriers can be used for one-way streets, airports, universities and anywhere else with large car parks to be managed. It can also be used in conjunction with other security devices like automated gates and arm barriers.
It is important when installing them to ensure that traffic runs straight over the plates, never approaching from an angle. It is also ideal that oncoming traffic is warned of their presence and to slow down to no more than 5mph before clearing them. We recommend the use of road warning signs for this purpose.
Although the plates are powder coated in bright yellow for clear visibility, we still recommend that the area be well illuminated so drivers can be sure to clearly see the devices even under low light conditions. When installing the box, ensure that the top plate is level with the ground or is at most 10mm marginally above. Be sure to allow for drainage below the base, and lay concrete around the unit to level with the surrounding ground. Leave the area to cure before starting use.
Though the flap and top of the steel box are made of heavy-duty steel and have an overall weight of 15 kilograms, our crew at Barriers Direct recommend not allowing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to pass over them. We also suggest combining these traffic barriers with the use of Autopa speed ramps to help slow down motorists approaching the plates.

SPECIFICATION
For safety reasons we recommend using speed ramps placed before the flow plates. To purchase suitable & recommended speed ramps please click: HERE
INSTALLATION
Positioning of the plates should be such that vehicles should only approach the plates head on, and not at an angle. Suitable road signs should be erected to advise road users that plates are in use, advising of slow speed limit, maximum 5mph. Can be used in conjunction with Autopa Speed Ramps to achieve slow speed.
Good street illumination should be used to ensure good visibility. HGVs should not be permitted access over the plates. Excavate hole 600 x 500 x 200mm deep. Allow for drainage immediately below the base. Ensure cement does not ingress in to the box, and that top plate is level with the ground or marginally above (10mm maximum). Lay concrete around the unit to level with surrounding ground. Leave to properly cure before using. Road warning signs are available. 5mph maximum speed advised.
